We are committed to making Arthur Morgan School accessible and meeting as much of an accepted family’s demonstrated need as we can. We work closely with families to help make attending AMS possible for all accepted students.

If tuition doesn’t feel feasible to your family, please don’t let that stop you from applying!  Our admissions process is need-blind.  Should your child be accepted, you will be invited to fill out our financial aid application.

Arthur Morgan School does its best to keep tuition at a minimum. Thanks to the efforts of a dedicated staff, we are able to keep our costs lower than most other independent schools. You will find us to be one of the most affordable junior boarding options in the country.

AMS has a strong scholarship program. All tuition scholarships are awarded according to financial need. Approximately 70% of students receive scholarship funds to help with tuition costs.  Over the years, such financial aid has enabled students from a wide variety of economic backgrounds to attend the school.

Of course, sending a child to private school is a financial commitment.  Our ability to provide adequate aid to all who need it is dependent on the personal investment of every family who enrolls, and their willingness to stretch some, if they can, to help keep AMS diverse and thriving.
At this time, Arthur Morgan School does not accept North Carolina Opportunity Scholarships or ESA Scholarships.
Our current staff and board’s perspective is that state-funded school voucher programs are part of an ongoing and concerted effort to defund and deregulate public education, and we are lucky not to feel pressure to accept them. Due to dedicated scholarship fundraising efforts and wise investments over the last 60-plus years, we are very fortunate in that we are able to provide our students with adequate financial assistance.
Given that we do not feel the need to look outside of our own funds to be able to offer sufficient scholarships, the staff and board have chosen to make a gesture of support for our local community’s public schools by not accepting any state vouchers at this time.
